To mark the centenary of the birth of the great composer, conductor and music theorist Pierre Boulez, this impressive 13-CD box set (first released in 2013) is reissued in a new updated artwork as a Limited Edition.
‘The Composer’ offers an overview of those works that Boulez considered representative of his compositional art and includes a 252-page booklet with comprehensive notes on each work and a commentary by the composer.
Together with the newly released 84-CD box set ‘Pierre Boulez: The Conductor’ - with complementary artwork - these two editions are a tribute to a musical icon who was a pioneer in all areas of musical creation and a thought leader of profound and penetrating originality.
Created entirely under the composer's supervision, this edition includes recordings by Boulez himself; Pierre-Laurent Aimard; Alfons and Aloys Kontarsky; Christine Schäfer; Severino Gazzelloni; David Tudor; Jeanne-Marie Conquer; Roger Désormière; Ensemble intercontemporain; BBC Symphony Orchestra; Orchestre National de al RTF; and many more.
Includes a disc of historical recordings of ‘Le Marteau sans maître’, the 1950 premiere of ‘Le Soleil des eaux’ and the ‘Sonatine’ plus a disc with an exclusive interview with the composer. A worthy homage to the great composer Boulez for his centenary.
